Before and after...

©2010 Paul Jamiol
The question I get asked most is how do these drawings start out. Here's a rough of Crag from BaA2 and how he ended up. In the rough, he was pretty aggressive and showing both attitude and teeth. Seeing these guys are for a kids book, I toned him down a little so not to scare the bejeezus out of the younger set.

Those that made...

©2010 Paul Jamiol
A rough of those that made the cut for Bikers are Animals 2 (GT Charlie, Gatah (renamed Crag) and Sketch) and those that did not (Jay-Dee, Knuck, Chompster and Galup). While it was really emotional for those who did not make the cut, I did promise them a call back for Bikers are Animals 4 - Workin' and Playin'.

If you love cartoons (I certainly do!) and happen to be in the Boston, MA/Cambridge, MA area next week, make sure you check out BOSTOONS - Boston International Humor Festival. All BOSTOONS activities take place Sept. 9-12 at Cambridge College, Hall 152, 1000 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA. This is this area's first festival of this type with entries from all over the world. No motorcycles but loads of 'toons and humor.

The second...

©2010 Paul Jamiol
The second of two full-color centerfolds I did for the Motorcyclist's Post back in 2009 to introduce some of the BAA characters to the world. Howlena's bike was completely made up around a v-twin engine. Bandit is based on our real-life Bandit (a cool Shiba Inu.) The blue boots on his paws come from the blue boots we put on him on those freezing winter nights when he needs to go out.

Shifta is one of the understated characters in the book but I really like him. His bike looks like a Norton because I had two Nortons and loved them. Mine did not have a side shift or mouse-trap sissy bar.

Zig and Zag are Linda's favorites. Zig's bike has a '59 Caddy taillight because I love '59 Caddy taillights! He went through a lot of bananas to earn that banana patch. Zag's bike is faster. How do I know?...because I drew him and I say so...LOL!
